As a general rule, the less information you give out, the better. But, as long as you have a router between your Mac and your cable/DSL connection, you should be in good shape. As you can tell from the link below, anyone running a website can get your IP address (whether you realize it or it).
If you have a Linksys router,
- just go to http://192.168.1.1/ (your router IP address),
- enter your password (user name is typically blank),
- go to Status,
- click on ';DHCP Release';, wait a few seconds,
- and then click on ';DHCP Renew';
-%26gt; This will change your IP address, your router will get a new one from your ISP (internet service provider), so the IP address you posted by mistake will no longer be accurate
Good luck :)Is it okay to share your IP address?
Usually the service providers provide a dynamic IP which automatically changes on resetting the modem.
U dont need to worry if u have a strong password protecting ur computer and u have a firewall
no noob can ever break into system
