i'm hooked up to a d-link router and i was wondering how i can change my mac address. i got banned from a video game which ban's the ip but from what i've heard you can change your mac address and release and renew the ip to get a new one? is this possibleHow do i change my mac adress?
dont touch that lol..
look around your router's options: to access your router option goto your internet browser and type in 192.168.0.1 in teh address bar and press enter
it will ask you for log in info.. just press enter and go into the options ... find a button that says DHCP realese or DHCP renew...
click this.. and restart your router... ( dont unplug it.. there should be a reboot button in the options page)
voila.. your IP has been reset ( this only works if you have a dynamic IP..static IP means u have to change it manually [if u can])
dont mess with you MAC addressHow do i change my mac adress?
Amend its MAC address There are two ways, one is the hardware changes to another kind of software is modified. Hardware way is to direct the card to operate, modify stored in the EPROM card inside the MAC address, through the card manufacturer can change the procedures for amending the address in memory. Then what is? EPROM 禄 EPROM Electronics is a memory in the professional jargon, it is rewritable, meaning that a White you use a pen to write again after will not be able to use the eraser, and this White EPROM with a pencil After writing can wipe, which can be repeatedly changed the data memory. Of course, the software changes on the way to a relatively much simpler, in Windows, the MAC card stored in the registry, the actual use is extracted from the registry, the registry can be modified as long as the change MAC. Windows 9x edit: Open the Registry Editor, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSetService \ Class \ Net \ under the 0000,0001,0002.
Changes in the Windows 2000/XP: the same open the registry editor, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ ControlClass \ 4D36E970-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 in 0000,0001,0002 in DriverDesc, if found in 0000, in 0000 Below add a string variable, named ';NetworkAddress';, in order to set the value of the MAC address, for example: 000102030405

Under Windows, the MAC address is stored in a registry key. To change a MAC address, find that key with `regedit` and change it. Of course, Microsoft keeps moving the location of the key around!
Windows XP adds an option to change the MAC address on some network cards under the Advanced tab in the network adapter's Properties menu.
A much easier and more reliable method to change a MAC address under Windows is to use a software utility program designed to do this for you.
Macshift is a free utility that you can use to spoof your MAC address under Microsoft Windows.

If you're a Windows user, then try macshift.
If you're a Linux user, use macchanger. How to clone/spoof my wireless MAC address?

How am I still computer banned from this online game if I changed my mac address? 10 points.?
How is it I am still banned from this online game called second life if I changed my mac address? I used quick mac address changer, went to command prompt, and verified that it changed my mac address, and it did. However, I'm still computer banned. How am I still computer banned from this online game if I changed my mac address? 10 points.?
Does your computer have more than one NIC? Did you change the MAC on the correct NIC? Laptop computers have two NIC's; a wired one and a wireless one. Some desktop computer have wireless cards as well; so they too could have two NIC's.
You seem to have a knack in getting banned. Wouldn't it be easier to correct your actions than to keep changing the MAC?How am I still computer banned from this online game if I changed my mac address? 10 points.?
It bans the IP address, and that belongs to the router. And you can't change that.
The MAC address is not the only way online sites identify you. Delete cookies and change your IP address (different from MAC address).
IP address can be changed if you are using dynamic IP assignment. Check what your current IP address is. Turn off your cable/dsl modem and pull the power. Way about 10 minutes then turn on your modem again. Now check the IP address again. If it hasn't changed you may need to stay offline longer. You can check your WAN IP address at the link below, click on 'Your IP address' link.

How to change my mac address in windows?
Although physical MAC addresses are permanent by design, several mechanisms allow modification, or ';spoofing';, of the MAC address that is reported by the operating system. This can be useful for privacy reasons, for instance when connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot, or to ensure interoperability. Some internet service providers bind their service to a specific MAC address; if the user then changes their network card or intends to install a router, the service won't work anymore. Changing the MAC address of the new interface will usually solve the problem. However, this action is generally frowned upon and if the service provider is able to detect that a MAC address is spoofed and prohibits spoofed MAC addresses, this method will not work. Similarly, some software licenses are bound to a specific MAC address. Software-based changes to the MAC address simply modify operating system configuration data and are not permanent; with most operating systems and drivers, the MAC address will revert to the value physically stored in the card after a reboot.
A hardware-based change to the MAC address, on the other hand, is permanent because it erases the MAC address physically stored in the card's EEPROM and overwrites it with a desired MAC address. Making this hardware-based modification is tricky, however, as it requires the user to operate desoldering equipment and an EEPROM Programmer (hardware).
As a MAC address can be changed, it can be unwise to rely on this as a single method of authentication. IEEE 802.1x is an emerging standard better suited to authenticating devices at a low level. How to change my mac address in windows?

MAC address uniquely identifies your network adapter. This is assigned at manufacture time and can't be changed
Your MAC address is hard coded into the network card and is unique. While you can't change the actual address, you can ';spoof'; it in Windows, though there are not too many legitimate reasons to do this.

you cant just simply change the mac address
for that u need to contact the vendor and ask him to do that
there are some third party software but it can create conflict on the internet and u wont be able to connect to internet then after

How to change a MAC address?
Hello all, this question is for my husband. He is currently living in Korea....anyways this morning his internet shut down. His router is showing that he still has internet access, but his computer is not receiving it. He reset his computer and when I called him, he told me that he believes his mac address has been blocked. Is there any way around this? I can call him on his cell but that is very costly. We always kept in contact through the internet via msn. How can he fix this? Is there a way to fix this? He isnt sharing his internet or piggybacking on anyone elses. Someone please help!!!!How to change a MAC address?
Some older Wifi cards let you change the MAC address in the device properties. You can get another wifi card for like $20 or you might be able to find some software that will let you change your MAC address. How to change a MAC address?
Unlikely that MAC address is blocked as the MAC address presented to the ISP is that of the router, which is connecting. Depending on which router he's using, it probably only has a NAT based firewall which by default, allows all outgoing connections so unless he's configured his router to block himself, it's not going to be that either.
Sounds like a problem at the ISP end, could be a DNS server is not responding for some reason, which would give exactly those symptoms. Problem is, there are so many possibilities, from the computer client right through to the ISP.
It could also be a faulty router, corrupt IP stack, faulty network adaptor, cabling etc etc. But assuming he can open his router config page, therefor meaning his computer is definitely connected to the router, and he is also sure that his router is definitely connected to the ISP, then he needs to contact his ISP
i think MAC address cant be changed ...they are hard coded..!!!
but due to manufacturing defect ....two Network Interface Card(NIC) can have the same MAC address...!!!!!!!
so...i think ...tell him to buy a new NIC...that will be better...!!!!
You can probably spoof the MAC address in some way, but that on'y masks the symptoms, it doesn't solve the problem. First of all, you talk about something being blocked on his end...so if this is the case, then the issues needs to be fixed on his end. Has he contacted whoever provides the Internet service?
Unless there's some security issue in play here, or his system is infected with some kind of malware, the first place he needs to look is at his local connection.
simple tell him to reconfig router so the firewall does not block MAC addresses.
However i doubt this is the problem since MAC addresses don't change. They r unique to the device.

Changing Mac Address?
Is it possiable to change Ehternet and wireless card in laptop ? if it is than how?Changing Mac Address?
You are really asking 2 different questions. The MAC address is burned into the network card and can't be changed (it can be spoofed, however).
To answer your second question about changing the Ethernet or wireless card in the laptop, it depends on the manufacturer. Most laptops come with with network cards built into the motherboard, so replacing the network card means replacing the motherboard. The wi-fi card may or may not be part of the motherboard.
Probably the easiest thing to do is simply buy a network card that will go into the PCMCIA slot of your laptop.Changing Mac Address?
Yes, you can change the MAC address but it is not advised.
http://www.tech-faq.com/change-mac-addre
No, but you could get an add-on card or even a USB WiFi Ethernet NIC. Then you can enable whichever one you want to use.
Yes, you can change that, but in reality you will not be changing the physical address of the device because it is embedded there by the manufacturer. You would be doing what is called a MAC Address clonning. There are several tools that can help you do the job, go to downloads.com and search or to snapfiles.com. You should be able to get something there. However, I do not recommend this and actually don't see a need for that. I hope it helped.
