I've been trying to change my MAC Address via my router settings, I have followed numerous guides on how to do this and they all involve altering 1 digit in order to change my IP. However, as what seems to work for everyone else, isn't working for me. Once I do this I am unable to get my internet service going again. My main goal here is to force change my IP address and this is the way to do it. Does anyone know why I can't get back onto the internet after I change my MAC Address?
By the way I have also trying opening up command prompt and doing an ipconfig/renew or whatever, and this simply doesn't work.Unable to change MAC Address w/ Linksys Router - Please help!?
Call your ISP and request an Ip address change.
What you are doing will NOT WORK.
All these ip changing guides I see, only involve with private ip address. These only affect connections between the computer and the router, but NOT with the internet.
Also ISP companies have a database of approved mac address to use on a network, that way no one can easily steal internet access by splicing someone else's data cable..
