How to enable internet access if blocked by router?

My dad disabled it by doing this steps



1. add a time schedule.

2. remove its gateway from its WAN

3. add a block all ports based on MAC Address .



I tried changing IP address but every 3-5 minutes it disables again and you have to change it every time it occurs.

Also, If you know how to get password and username to get router access that would be a better idea.How to enable internet access if blocked by router?
If you have physical access to the router you could always just reset it and then put all the same settings back in that he did originally but without the restrictions. Of course, that's a good way to convince your dad to do away with your internet entirely.

I was banned from downloading from a torrent site for no reason, and I'm trying to change my IP address in order to get myself ';unbanned';. I am on a wireless network transmitted by my Linksys WRT300N router.



I logged into to the router setup page and tried various things, like releasing and renewing my IP, changing the lease time to 1 minute, cloning my MAC address, etc. I even tried switching from DHCP to a static IP that I assigned myself. I'm not sure I knew what I was doing and nothing seems to have worked.



I called Linksys and they said that they could change my IP for me, but for some sort of security reason they wouldn't do it unless I gave them the IP address of and ports used by the site I'm trying to unban myself (neither of which I know).

Not possible, unless you can call and convince your ISP to switch it. It is they who give you your IP address, so I don't know how Linksys claims they can do anything about it. Over time it may switch, but that could be days, weeks, or months.

I was banned from selling on amazon because one of my friends used his amazon account from my house and he was banned..so I got banned too after a few days....I created another account by changing my ip to dynamic ip and also my linksys router, had 192.168.1.1, i changed the last number to another number..like say 31....but 2 weeks later, i got banned again...



    How do I get back on Amazon..?     Amazon probably has contact with your isp. You shouldn't always change your ip address. If you tried to log in, they remember your current ip and block you. Use a different computer with a new account.

    ..but when i run the new router, it will set up a wireless network, but will not connect to the internet.

    I know about sky's T+C's and if they provided a half decent router in the first place, I wouldn't be swapping them over.

    There are 3 computers in my house, 2 of them use wireless, and 1 LAN. I am using one of the wireless. I want to know how to change the external IP(IP shown on ipchicken.com/whatsmyip.com) so that I can get onto a site(Proxies an hotspot shield do not work). Everything I tried doesnt seem to work.

    Most ISP's offer a Dynamic IP Address, meaning that the IP Address changes over time. If it does not change very often, I would recommend calling your ISP, to let them know that you want your IP Address changed. Also, a MAC Address is burned into the network card. Windows allows you to change your MAC Address for some network cards in the network card properties.     You can change the IP address which you get it from the router but its difficult to change the external IP.

    Well, your Public IP address is leased to your modem for a certain amount of time. Sometimes it is only a 3 hour lease, other times its a 3 week lease. So to change your public IP you would have to unplug your modem and stay offline until the lease expires. You can actually view your DHCP lease in your routers configuration page. Don't get it confused with your local DHCP however. And you can not change your MAC address, that is permanent.

    When I log in my linksys admin page, I get a wrong page, When I click Status tab it says Renew and Release and doesn't says Reconnect and Disconnect.     8)After the 30 seconds have passed plug everything back in.





    9)Click on your web browser and see if you can connect to the internet if you get a page that says can not be displayed message this is normal!

    simply hit the reset button on the back of your linksys router and you should be good to go.





    10)Now go here http://www.ipchicken.com/ and you will see your new ip

    I have a Verizon GT704WGB Modem + Router it gives me a private IP (192.168.1.1-255) I know my real IP but through any means cannot change it. The private IP is static, which I can change but does nothing. A proxy isn't an option. I am skilled with computers but just some things you need help with. I am running XP but I got Vista on a separate computer. Wireless hasn't been working but I doubt that is related. I am using a direct connection with a power cable.     as for the ip your server provide you with, it's true, you cannot change that, only they can or being off line for a very long time so it gets reassigned can accomplish this. a proxy only helps after you reach the web but you ip stays the same, justin case you're not clear on that...



    your correct, if your actual connection thru your modem toyour provider is static, ther is nothing you can do about it, except change your service, diswconnect/reconnect like new service.



    however, you posted a local address which is what makes your question more difficult because one has nothing to do w/ the other and you can change the local address all you want.



    switching your modem wont affect your connection if your service provider has assigned you a static connection/ip.

    Your ISP doesn't know or care what the internal addresses of your devices are. It's of no consequence to them or anybody else. So you can change your internal addresses all you want and your ISP won't know.



    But as for how they trace which customers had which IP addresses during which time periods, it's all automated. It's a simple system of timestamps. Each time a customer renews his or her DHCP lease and gets a new IP address, the change gets recorded. To find out what a certain customer's IP address was at a certain time, you would just look at the list, find the customer's name, ID, or account number (or whatever they use to represent customers), enter in the time period you're interesting in and then you can see what IP address he or she had at that time.



    Similarly, if you wanted to find out which customer a certain IP address could be linked to, you'd enter in the time period and IP address and you could find out the name or account number of the customer who had it at that time.



    Surprisingly simple, right?How does ISP trace an IP address if it can be changed constantly?
    About all you can change are your local IP addresses -- the ones that probably start off 192.168.xxx.xxx. These are all on your local area network: your computers, your router, possibly game devices and iPods.



    But your router has another IP address that the Internet sees and your local area network never sees. This is assigned by your ISP and you can't change it. If you did, your ISP wouldn't know who it was talking to and would ignore you.

    The IP that is on the World Network aka the web is granted to you by the ISP therefore they know who you are. ISP's also keep a log of when there is activity on an IP.

    If you use a router, the only IP address that matters is the ip address of the router interface that faces the carrier(it is assigned by the carrier). The address of the PC will be assigned by the router, and will be of the form 192.268.x.x.     You will most likely have a static IP address assigned by VM but as far as your router is concerned, just set it to dynamic and let it pick it up from your modem.

    No there is now way to do it. I'm assuming when you say to change the MAC address you are referring to IP address (ie: 192.168.1.5).



    MAC address are physical address on your network card. (you can't change that).



    IP address: If you change the IP address, then you will loose connection to your network. For example: If your IP address is 192.168.2.325 and the default gateway is 192.168.2.1. If you change it to for example 192.168.3.426, then it will stop communicating with the default gateway. The computer will think that it is part of a different network.



    Unless you are the administrator, DO NOT EVER change IP address settings.

    That would depend on what he's monitoring. For example, he might monitor what port on a router/switch is connected to what computer (by MAC address). If this is the case, he may get notification when you change your MAC and/or your connection will not work.



    I would recommend getting a mobile wireless internet device and using that as they are cheap in most countries and a lot less painful.



    It's not worth loosing your job over a little bandwidth - remember there's not just the technical limitation, but the contractual policy one also ;)
    Nope. I seriously doubt you're a hacker or a computer expert so don't mess with the settings. Even if you change your MAC you will still have to use that network adress to connect to so, if it is unknown to the admin's network, i guess you won't be able to connect afterwards.

I don't think that will fix your problem, if not create more. A lot of programs expect to find your loopback address as 127.0.0.1. In my best opinion don't do it.



    But if you must, on a Unix-like system, make sure you have root privileges and edit the fine /etc/hosts.

    Here's the deal. I have Comcast and a Linksys router. The ONLY way I've been able to change my IP ADDRESS in the past has been using my Linksys configuration panel and click on ';Clone MAC Address'; ... but now it got to a point where it does not provide a new MAC Address, thus it does not change my IP ADDRESS.



    Note: I have tried changing it in multiple ways, such as [disconnecting router %26amp; modem for 8 hours] ... [randomly disconnecting modem for 10 minutes] ... and [manually inserting a new MAC ADDRESS... and all it did was turn off my internet] .. [DHCP release/renew] .. and none seem to work.

    Most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) which means that your IP address will be assigned automatically so, your ISP will probably not be able to change this at all. The reason why disconnecting the router for eight hours didn't work was because the router stores MAC (Media Access Control) address stores the IP address. I think you know this already so the solution is to either:



    1. Get a router that supports MAC address cloning.

    2. Plug your PC directly into your modem and you will receive a new IP address, you will then have to wait possibly a day to a week, (no real exact time frame because DHCP assigns IP addresses automatically) then hope that the IP address that the router stored was assigned to someone else. Your router will then communicate will your ISP to discover a new IP address.



    I'm not really sure why you want to do this because it is pretty pointless. Your real IP will always be there for someone who needs it including websites and definantly the law (if you are doing something illegal).     Yes and no...you can't ';change'; it but many adapters have a choice in ';advanced'; on the driver configuration that lets you specify a MAC to override the preprogrammed one...if not there may be free utilities but I've never used them.



    Why would you want to do that?

    Besides trying to hack other networks, a legal and lagit use is when your ISP uses the MAC to identify your computer. If you get a new computer (or install a router) often you need to change or ';clone'; the MAC so the ISP doesn't know you swapped devices - just to get around having to call the ISP and have them enter the new device or charge extra for having a router.
    There is no ';physical'; possible way to change your NIC MAC address. But there is a way to simulate a new one. A little program called SMAC. I do think it's freeware. Give that a shot!     sounds like you want a static IP from your modem, right? an easier way of getting a static IP would be to go into your modem's settings and force it to apply a static IP (one that you choose) to your MAC address. depends if the modem will allow you to do this, but most that i've used can. you usually log into the modem using its web interface at something like 192.168.0.1 in your browser. you'll need to know your MAC address, so find the command prompt (run%26gt;cmd) and type ipconfig /all to find it. setting just your NIC to a static IP will mean that other devices on your network will remain under DHCP.

    That depends. Your ISP has a certain IP range in its posession. The first part of the IP address belongs to your ISP and therefore cannot be changed, even if you have a dynamic IP address. If you have a static IP address now and you do not switch ISP, you will remain the same IP address at the new location. If you stick to your current ISP, but you have a dynamic IP address, it wil change every now and then, just like it does now. If you switch ISP, you will end up with a different static or dynamic IP address.
    You will likely get a new IP address, but odds are heavy that the first two numbers will stay the same. It all depends on Rogers, what size of IP pool they have, and how they distribute it over their networks.



    Look up your current IP at:

    So i'm trying to change my IP address, since i'm using a router and since the lease time is too long to wait out, the only way I see to do this is to use the clone mac address feature.

    That being said, the IP is determined by the MAC address of the Comcast modem, not the router. If you were that desperate for your IP to change, request a new modem. Of course, they may charge you, but what's a few bucks to change an IP.
    The fact that they have dynamic IP addressing doesn't mean you'll get a different address each time you ask to renew your IP address. Chances are, you'll get the same address each time. The only way to get a different IP address from them is by turning your modem off for a day or 2: chances are your IP address will be given to someone else by then.

    Another option is to call Comcast and ask them to remove the IP address connected to your connection. Chances are they won't, but they'll ask you: Why are you so gung ho on changing your IP address?     Change it yourself with a proxy server...easiest way to do it so you don't have to worry about your ISP changing it for you. A proxy server will mask your IP and show a fake one generated by the server to anyone who is tracking you. If pinged, ti will shoot back to the server and not your real location.

    I am using a Intel wireless 5100 AGM on windows 7. After A LOT of trouble i am able to change my mac address to anything as long as the second digit is a '2'. As in: 02-15-A5-AE-7C-31.     Unplug the Cable modem from power for like 2 hours. If that doesn't work, call Comcast and ask them to assign you a new IP.
    I think you can set a static IP address which is practically an IP address that you make yourself. If you are using a MAC I don't know how to do this.

    On a PC, go to control panel, right click on network connections go to properties, then go to tc/ip protocol and click properties, then go to use the following IP address and set it to your liking. I think you can do that if you are using a router but I'm not sure you can if you were using a computer plugged right into a modem.

Depending on which router he's using, it probably only has a NAT based firewall which by default, allows all outgoing connections so unless he's configured his router to block himself, it's not going to be that either.

    You can probably spoof the MAC address in some way, but that on'y masks the symptoms, it doesn't solve the problem. First of all, you talk about something being blocked on his end...so if this is the case, then the issues needs to be fixed on his end. Has he contacted whoever provides the Internet service?



    Unless there's some security issue in play here, or his system is infected with some kind of malware, the first place he needs to look is at his local connection.
    simple tell him to reconfig router so the firewall does not block MAC addresses.

    However i doubt this is the problem since MAC addresses don't change. They r unique to the device.

    Cable modem, blocks and MAC/IP address?

    Hello,

    Now before you post anything please don't tell me to talk to my dad, get a life etc. i am here for help please guys and gals not a lecture!



    I am 20 years old and living at home (unfortunately) with my parents and pay rent. the issue is that recently me and the old man had a fight and he has decided to cut the only thing that means anything to me which is the internet. as ive got mental issues and getting over a drug habit this is the only thing that keeps me sane!



    first of all i want to know how he has blocked me from using the internet.i'm still hooked up to the modem but cannot use net. i can change the MAC address with a dodgy program and get it running but it doesn't seem to last for that long.



    so for example....

    if i kept changing my MAC address will the modem just see me as a new user? or i need to change my IP to?



    whats the dif between IP address and MAC address?



    can you help me out on ways around this issue?



    is there anyway of accessing the modem without showing up on the modem log?

    Ok this is really simple. Changing the MAC is only temporary. First the ISP knows several things for sure. #1 who is paying for the service. #2 Where the packets of data are being sent even if a proxy is used. Arrangements can be made with the isp to block data going to any local system that does not ID itself properly. The only way to establish rock solid service to your unit would be to clone the hard drive of the primary system on the local network.

    You can try uninstall the hardware device, and installing it back in. If that fails then I would physically take out the card, and somewhere on that card is the hardware address (mac address). Copy it down, then write a new mac address using that program again.

    Ok, first thing you need to know is, that everyone on the internet (that is directly connected to the internet, and not behind a NAT routed network) has a unique IP address that no other person can have at that time. The same applies for MAC addresses.



    Each piece of networking media has a MAC address to uniquely identify it on a layer 2 device such as a switch, or in some cases a bridge or router.



    If two people have the same IP address in a given network, each user will be notified that duplication has occured, and traffic will not be routed correctly to each device. Routers keep track of various IP addresses, and the ports to which the communications for a given address can be directed to. If there is a conflict, traffic destined for IP address may be discarded until the IP conflict is resolved, no one computer may be allowed to send or receive traffic through the router.



    The same thing goes for MAC addresses as well.     As far as I know (and I'm not a computer genius here), the only way to change a MAC address is with a new card (I could be wrong, though).



    Your best bet would probably be to invest in a router. I'm actually kind of surprised that your ISP didn't provide one, or give you the option of getting one through them.     Get a broadband router and give it the responsibility of making the PPPoE connection.     You cannot have a computer with the same ip on a network. It creates a network conflict and it will not work.



    Stop using all this crap. Spoof your mac address and let DHCP take care of the rest.



    Static IP's does not mean you must set your IP address. It means that when your ISP gives your pc a lease, it is a very long lease for the IP, thats all.



    You could also just buy a router for $30 you know...

    So if your Dad is using a MAC filter to block you from the Internet you can find a MAC spoofing program that will get you online.

You can't even access the internet using just a MAC address, because routing occurs over the internet, and routers require an IP address in order to route data.     Sounds like what you're looking for is a proxy service with the server(s) based in the US. A quick Google for stuff like ';free proxy'; should turn up a few, but be forewarned that some sites might start blocking the proxies once they realize people are using them to get around the location restrictions (which are almost always there for legal reasons, i.e. not having distribution rights for the content in other countries).     The only way to fake the funk on an IP like that is to use an anonymizer from Central Florida. Your computer would basically surf the web via that remote computer. Thus making it look like you are from there.



    You cannot change your ';real'; IP address because the information wouldnt make it back to your network.
