How to access Block IPs & MAC addresses?

i want to know...my isp has blocked my ip and now how to access internet annonymously plz tell me...

is there any software that changes my ip per second and also mac address ???How to access Block IPs %26amp; MAC addresses?
What have you done!

You IP address is assigned by your ISP so you can't change it yourself.

Your MAC address is hardcoded into your network router or modem.

You could buy a new router or modem. Maybe? How to access Block IPs %26amp; MAC addresses?
Your MAC address is permanent. It's a per equipment basis. You would have to renew your ip address by typing ';ipconfig /renew'; in the command prompt. It largely depends on if you have a dynamic IP address or a static IP address (Assigned by your ISP and usually at extra cost)

How do I change my router's security settings?

I have Windows Vista, and I want to allow my DS's MAC address. How do I change my router's security settings?
You need an Ethernet cable from your router to your PC. Then just log in to it using the IP address for the router (Usually in the router's manual), and it is usually 192.168.1.1

Hope this helps %26amp; good luck,How do I change my router's security settings?

How to keep the same inet address?

I am trying to connect my mac to my xbox and have done it before. At times it doesn't connect just because my inet address on my mac is constantly changing when i am about to play. The xbox will only recognize my address as xxx.xxx.3.1, not xxx.xxx.2.1 which is displaying now. Is there a way that I can just keep it as xxx.xxx.3.1?How to keep the same inet address?
You can try checking with the Xbox site. though I find it funny that you're trying to hook up a Microsoft Product on an Apple Product.

I'm assuming that inet address is just an ip address. I suggest changing your Mac's inet address to xxx.xxx.3.1 so both your Xbox and Mac can be on the same inet address, but you can try looking it up with the Xbox site.

Does my computer have an ip address? how do i change it?

i have a mac so does my computer have an ip address? can you really track YOUR HOME ADDRESS with an ip address? i have some enemies that have possibly obtained mine and i want to change it for security. how do you do so if even possible? thank you for reading and god bless :)Does my computer have an ip address? how do i change it?
Your IP address is tells other computers how to find your computer on the internet. However, your IP address isnt like your street address, its a little more like your phone number. Your ISP has a large pool of IP addresses, and each time you connect to the internet you get allocated one of these. When you reboot your computer or disconnect, this address is returned to the ISP.

Other computers must know your IP address to talk to your computer, so in that respect your IP address is not a secret. Every computer that your computer talks to must know your IP address.

However, unless you are doing something illegal and law enforcment gets involved, your IP will not tell an attacker very much about your physical location. At best they may get a city.Does my computer have an ip address? how do i change it?
Destroy your computer.
to change it disconect and conect back and ot see what it is go to myipaddress.com
I don't think you can do that...

I think you need to buy a new computer to do that
YOUR HOME ADDRESS IS GIVEN TO YOU BY THE POST OFFICE.

YOUR IP ADDRESS IS GIVEN TO YOU BY YOUR INTERNET CARRIER.

YES YOU CAN TRACK A HOME DOWN BY THE IP ADDRESS, HENCE THAT'S HOW THE FED'S FIND PEOPLE AT THEIR HOUSES.

SIGN UP FOR A NEW ACCOUNT (SOMETIMES) OR IF YOUR TUNNEL YOU USE GOES BAD AND YOU NEED SERVICE, THAT SOMETIMES GETS YOU A NEW IP. THAT'S A RARE CASE.

NOW YOUR GOING TO RUN AROUND CHANGING EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE CAUSE QUITE FRANKLY.... IF YOU HONESTLY KNEW WHAT TRACKED YOU, YOUR IP ADDRESS WOULD BE THE LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES.
there are spaceships hovering around trying to suck up all the data coming out of your IP address. j/k.

If you are directly connected to a cable modem or dsl modem, your IP address is assigned by your service provider. That is the IP address that everyone on the internet can see.

If you are behind a router, the router gets that IP address and the ip address of the pc or mac is hidden. The router administers the IP addresses using DHCP. Your service provider assigns the internet ip address to you, but you may get a different one every time you log in.
You need to find a proxy server and use it when browsing Internet
Hello Dear

Yes when you connected to Internet your PC get a unique IP automatically and if you disconnect it and connect again it will get a new one and its not necessary to you to change it manually

and dont worry about your enemies just install powerfull anti virus and anti spy ware and anti trojan on your PC they protect it .

Good luck
IP must be dynamic for this.

Mac address changer for osx is your solution, It's an application you run, you'll see 12 digits, change the last one, click on ID Mac changer and Bingo, IP is changed.

F眉ck' em all.

How to change my computer info around blocked internet?

My brother scheduled my computer internet for no reason -__-. He logged onto the router ip and changed the password and he scheduled rules on my computer I can go on internet for certain times its annoying. How do I change my computer info so my router would think i'm a new user?

When I go to the main IP page it shows my Connection type, PC name, IP Address, and MAC address. Please give me step instructions thank you!How to change my computer info around blocked internet?
It could be based on 2 things. Either the IP address or the Mac Address.

If it's IP

try looking at your ip address now. Then look to set it static to something close to your orginal IP. If it's IP based, then you shouldn't have a problem with time.

If it's mac address

You can spoof your mac address, but it's a little beyond me

How can you tell which one.

Try IP address, then if that doesn't work. Then it's mac address that drives the rule.

At which case i'd beat my brother up to get the password. How to change my computer info around blocked internet?

How do i get my Kodak printer to establish a WI-FI connection with my Mac?

I have a Kodak ESP-7 printer with Wi-Fi connectivity and have installed the printer software on my Macbook Pro laptop using the installation CD provided. I have made numerous attempts to print various documents but have achieved nothing.

I have gone into the Printer menu through the screen options on it and input the settings for Wi-Fi capability, also inputting the settings required through the Mac's 'System Preferences' menu under 'Print and Fax', changing different options with each attempt at printing always telling me on the Mac screen to check my printer connections because it cannot be found!

I have looked under 'Network' and 'Sharing' folders in System Preferences also, to see what could be changed there but have rendered the same result.

Why can't my Mac and printer make a Wi-Fi connection? I've had success through use with a USB cable but moving to a recent change of address now sees my print functions differently and have achieved success for my partner on her (Windows) laptop, which takes advantage of the Wi-Fi facility.

Please help (so that my partner still knows that Macs are better than PC's!). Thanks! How do i get my Kodak printer to establish a WI-FI connection with my Mac?
Wireless printing isn't a mac strong point. I had much trouble setting up my Canon printer to print wirelessly but I managed it in the end.

So you said that you input the wi-fi options on the printer, did it ask for a WEP code when you did it? Has it told you that you are connected to the internet? When setting it up, if you have a coded wi-fi network you'll have to put in the code under WEP settings. If you are sue that it is connected to your network, then go back to your system preferences on your mac.

When you press the + button, it might come up with maybe an option that says ';kodak...'; and under the type it'll say ';Bonjour Scanner';. If this is the printer you added, it is wrong. It will not work. You will have to wait a couple of minutes. After around fifteen seconds or so, either another printer should appear that says something like this ';Kodak ESP-7 00.85.25.64.58.69.35.45'; or some long number. If so, add this. If not, a button at the bottom should have appeared that says ';More Printers'; Click this and then wait a few seconds and then there should be something like ';Koadak ESP-7 00.85.25.64.58.69.35.45'; It should say it is on some kind of Kodak network.

I hope that helps cos that is what I had to do, and I hope this doesn't sour yours or your parters opinion of macs. :D

  • How can I change/hide my I.P. address?

i would like to make it so that i have an American IP address so that I can watch video content on HULU

i will need to make my I.P. look American i think

any software I can download (mac based not xp or vista)How can I change/hide my I.P. address?
Its sorta difficult. but you can try proxies.

    Try this website.

    Www.hidemyass.comHow can I change/hide my I.P. address?
a goodprogram is ghost surf...you can get a free version thats quite good, its a proxy server emulation that scrambles your ip address
You would probably need to use a proxy server.

A proxy server allows you to browse the Internet via another computer which has been set up to perform that function. Read more here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_serve鈥?/a>

Essentially you will request your web pages via the proxy server, the proxy server retrieves the web pages via it's IP address and then passes them back to you.

Essentially your IP address is that of the proxy server.

Lists of proxy servers are available but some need to be paid to use, some are free and some are illegal to use - so be careful to use one that is legitmate to use. There are also privacy issues when using proxy servers, since all of your traffic will go via the proxy meaning the owner of the proxy will know what sites you are visiting:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_serve鈥?/a>

Basically you would need to locate a proxy server in the United States. Bear in mind that HULU might also be configured to reject connections from known proxy servers.

The proxy server is specified in your browser, so it doesn't usually require any software to be installed, you just specify it in your browser settings.

    http://www.freeproxyserver.net/
    1. Click on ';Start'; in the bottom left hand corner of screen

    2. Click on ';Run';

    3. Type in ';command'; and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

    4. Type ';ipconfig /release'; just like that, and hit ';enter';

    5. Type ';exit'; and leave the prompt

    6. Right-click on ';Network Places'; or ';My Network Places'; on your desktop.

    7. Click on ';properties';

You should now be on a screen with something titled ';Local Area Connection';, or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

    8. Right click on ';Local Area Connection'; and click ';properties';

    9. Double-click on the ';Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'; from the list under the ';General'; tab

    10. Click on ';Use the following IP address'; under the ';General'; tab

    11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).

    12. Press ';Tab'; and it should automatically fill in the ';Subnet Mask'; section with default numbers.

    13. Hit the ';Ok'; button here

    14. Hit the ';Ok'; button again

You should now be back to the ';Local Area Connection'; screen.

    15. Right-click back on ';Local Area Connection'; and go to properties again.

    16. Go back to the ';TCP/IP'; settings

    17. This time, select ';Obtain an IP address automatically';

    tongue.gif 18. Hit ';Ok';

    19. Hit ';Ok'; again

    20. You now have a new IP address

How do I install an Apple font in Windows?

I am looking for a font in order to change the address on my business cards, which were designed on a Mac several years ago. I use Windows. The font is called AuCasablanca, and I've found it and downloaded it. When I unzip it, there are two files, one just called AuCasablanca and the other called AuCasablanca.afm. Is there any way I can turn this into a TrueType or some other format that Windows (Photoshop) can access? How do I install an Apple font in Windows?
CrossFont can convert Mac fonts to Windows PC format and back. Just drop the zip file on the CrossFont window and follow the directions. http://www.asy.comHow do I install an Apple font in Windows?
There is no way I know of to convert a Mac font to a Windows font. Usually what I have to do is find a font online that is the same in Windows but named different for Mac it is never easy trying to find a font from a different platform you just have to have a little time and patience.

Does anyone know how I can find the WAN side cloned Mac address?

    Here is my problem.

I am running a linksys befsr41v3 router and a changed a UPnP setting and now it is not letting me log into the router to change it back (I am 110% certain that my username and password are correct). I am about to reset the router and wipe out all of the settings but I need to know what my cloned Mac address is.

I have tried pinging the router from the command prompt then using the arp -a command but this only returns the routers actual mac address not the cloned one. The network was set up on an old computer that is no longer in use.

So I guess what I am asking is does anyone know how I can find the WAN side cloned Mac address?

ThanksDoes anyone know how I can find the WAN side cloned Mac address?
Just do an ipconfig /all. This should show you the clients mac address. I assumed the arp -a resturned the cloned mac address also. isnt it the same?Does anyone know how I can find the WAN side cloned Mac address?
Reset it anyway, you do not need a cloned mac address. It serves no purpose. In the rare case your ISP requires a mac address setting to complete the connection you can just notify them of the change.

I have 2 Ntl Modems, separate MAC addresses?

Hi, i have an NTL port upstairs and downstairs the port downstairs is connected to the modem and i tried to connect the upstairs modem to my other PC with no luck, as it kept saying this modem is not registered with this address or something along those lines, i was told that i needed to clone the MAC address as this is the one linked to my NTL cable etc... I was wondering whether anyone knows how to down this. Or knows how to change the 'Physical address' or the modem so that it is the same of my current one. Please only post if you know what you are talking about or are experienced in this field. Thankyou in advance, Mike.I have 2 Ntl Modems, separate MAC addresses?
First off, MAC addresses are burned in to networking devices during the manufacturing process, are unique and cannot ever be changed. Some people, including technical writers, talk about changing a MAC address when they really mean cloning a MAC address.

ISPs frequently monitor the MAC address of the first device attached to their network. In the case of NTL, however, the network monitors the MAC address of the cable modem and the modem monitors the MAC address of the first device connected to it.

Therefore whoever told you that you need to clone the MAC address of the cable modem would be right in most cases but not in this one.

What is needed is to power cycle the modem and the first device connected to it so that the volatile memory of the modem is wiped and it then records the MAC address of the first device when it is powered up.

The network knows nothing about this as the modem (with its MAC address) has not changed.

For details on connecting a new device to the NTL cable modem, go here:

    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.w

Thanks Mike, test it out and then award me 10 points.

How do I spoof the mac address on my router.?

spacifically, a 2wire 2700HG-D Gateway. I see where it allows me to override the built in hardware address but I can't get it to accept anything. I'm putting in something similar to other mac addresses i.e. 0014A500C4E8, but it tells me that it must be a unicast address. I guess what my question is, what format is a unicast address in. Also, it warns me that it may affect devices ability to connect to the network. Even though it's written for the reverse case (national Google page instead of Google.com), you could follow the recipe on this Google Web Search Help page to set your default Google domain:

    http://www.google.com/support/websearch/

What this page doesn't make explicit:

You should do this from a Google home page (just the domain), *not* a search results page. Start by deleting any Google cookies you have (and restart any open browsers, or reboot to make sure temporary cookies are removed as well), but do make sure cookies are enabled to inform Google what your preferred Google domain is.

Please help!!!!!!!!How do I change the info I originally put in when I installed Mac OS X Leopard?
try going to apple.com and create an account with your nameHow do I change the info I originally put in when I installed Mac OS X Leopard?
go to settings accounts (address book card) its all there

What you're saying is both you and your dad have your own Mobile Me accounts? Why did you put in your dad's name? If Mail is open, quit. Go to your home folder %26gt; Library. Delete the Mail folder. That holds all your dad's saved email. Go to your home folder %26gt; Library %26gt; Preferences. Delete com.apple.mail.plist. That has the email account settings.

Go to System Preferences %26gt; .Mac. Change the details to your account user name and such. Open Mail and it will ask you to create an account. Do it. Put in your ';Mobile Me'; account user name and password instead of your dad's settings. See? Not as difficult as you thought.

How can I connect to Xbox live on Xbox 360?

    hey everyone,

well, well, well the troubles ive had with establishing a continous connection, my problem is well, ive looked over the internet for about a week on youtube ect for a way to properly connect to xbox live.

I got my xbox bout 1 month ago and it took me 2 nights to get a connection up and running, then 1 day later it wouldnt work, i checked my settings in networks and it was all the same. I tried again a few days later then it worked then 2 days later it wouldn't!

Ive tried bridging connections, changing my MAC address on the console, reseting the console, enabling sharing on my network, reseting the Ip adress and ive gone intothe protocol thing allowed xbox through. But when I put the Ethernet cable into the computer, it verifys the connection and says that it is local. It always says local, Ive tried EVERYTHING!!!

I'm connecting my Xbox 360 to my laptop via ethernet cord and then connecting to the internet using a sierra wireless aircard 880U with bigpond internet. This connection has worked before and im really getting fustrated.

When the connection doesnt work the Xbox 360 comes up with the error that my modem is not giving it a Ip adress (something like that).

Please help, I've spend countless hours attempting to connect!

How do I get around a WiFi network ban/block?

Let's face it, times around a little tough and I've resorted to leeching WiFi from the restaurant underneath my apartment. They're closed after 7pm so I feel it's (somewhat) ok do be doing it...

Anyway, I seem to be banned or blocked from the connection. Is there anyway for me to get around this? I've tried changing my MAC address but it didn't seem to work. Any ideas or website suggestions that could help me find what I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance for you help :)How do I get around a WiFi network ban/block?
You probably can not get around a ';block list'; as you are not in control of the list / IP / MAC / filter.

Go ask someone (manager/owner) in the restaurant if you need a password to use the wifi (and if you may use it after hours as you live upstairs)

the other way is to talk to their ';computer'; person and ask if you could be just banned during business hours (add a little as managers show up early and leave late)

otherwise most other ways of gaining access you could be considered stealing internet and that would be very unwise. just search ';stealing wireless internet'; and you will see what happens to some people when caught. How do I get around a WiFi network ban/block?
They must have saw you on the network. No way around it and they could prosecute you for tapping into the net without permission.
its possible theve put an encryption on there, for that you would have to crack it, which is illigal,

they could also be starting to run it through a proxy, then you would have to port scan to see what ports are open for you to go through
Yeah, as tough as times are... I wouldn't try to get around the ban. They are in full right to prosecute you if they catch you bypassing their ban and a little free internet is not worth paying a hefty fine for. You're better off just facing the facts and walking a block or two to the cheapest internet cafe you can find.

So I have a dell laptop running on VISTA. My brother whose really tech smart, does not like me, so he's banned me from the network, he even siad so himself. I KNOW he's banned me, because I would give him like 20 dollars and then he'd go into his room where his computer is, and do something, and all of a sudden my internet would work.

So my question is....How is he Doing this? And how can I get through his block?

My brother is ruthless and merciless so he will not come in, in I just pay him...ONCE. Or do anything good to him.

PS: First I thought he was blocking my ip so I tried changing it and there was NO luck. But I found out online about MAC addresses and I thought maybe that was it. So I changed my MAC address and I was able to connect, BUT I had no internet access. Vista said I was connected [5 bars] but no access. There was still the two computers symbol in the tasktray but NO globe on the computers.Internet Connection Help!!!?
sounds like the guy manually configured your tcp/ip conections through remote access. go to your manage connections directory throuh your internet icon and right click on the connection you are using, in the properties tab you can choose to automatically assign your ip, this should help.Internet Connection Help!!!?
He probably has blocked you through the router which you can maybe access at 192.168.1.1 (type in the address bar of browser). But your brother probably changed the login credentials. He can block a range of ip addresses or your MAC address which is specific to your network adapter. So you probably are just out of luck unless you reset the router.
You cannot manually change your mac address, this is how he's filtering you out. Most routers offer IP 192.168.1.1 try that to see if you can get into the router, default password for most is admin with no user name. It wont solve your problem but you could have fun changing the settings where he'd have trouble getting in.

    i was...

anyhooo if its really buggin u,contact the cops.

if i were u id talk to him. thats what i did.
It really depends what state or county you reside in. Many of them have different rules about civil restraining orders. In general, I believe you must have a very credible threat of an act of violence or harm. You can always fill out a restraining order and bring it to trial in front of a judge, however it does cost a court filing fee. I don't believe the evidence you have provided will constitute as hard proof enough to get a restraining order. From the restraining orders I have seen passed there have been very credible threats of endangerment. You cannot simply place a restraining order just based on assumption. I'm not sure but you'll most likely have to wait until you have evidence. Understandably the court has to be very cautious issuing restraining orders. In most cases such as this the boyfriend will grow tireless and either A) stop stalking you or B) harm or threaten you. You'll resolve your problem either way. Even if you filed an order with what you have just stated above it will not pass because it is certainly your word versus his at this point.

good luck and i hope things work out.
This is a major concern if he's really doing this. You might want to try using ';red herrings'; to figure out if, and where, he's getting information.

For example, have some person send you an email saying to meet you at some place at a certain time. If he shows up there, that may be the way he's getting information. Stay safe.

How can I connect to xbox live without using a modem or router?

I recently bought an xbox elite because my old one broke and every time i try to connect to live i have to update the system which takes a while, but it always stops about halfway saying that I am disconnected from xbox live. I already changed my ip address and mac settings. also my internet is provided for by the apartment so it connects directly to the wall with no modem or router of my own.How can I connect to xbox live without using a modem or router?
    Hello Mike!!!!

I don't know more about xbox live. In my opinion, you need to get modem or router.

In future, if you plan for getting modem or router i recommend to get cisco. Currently, i using cisco router at my home and its working very fine. You can buy cisco router at cisco shop in reasonable price - http://ciscoshop.internetworkplanet.com

I hope, its helpful for you.

How do I configure my wireless network?

I tried everything I could do! I want to connect my psp, ipod touch and PC on the same time using my internet connection. But the only way to do that is by changing the MAC address of the PC to be the same as the iPod touch! If I try to connect the PC and the iPod touch with their own MAC addresses I have to reset the internet router and only one MAC address can be used at a time! I want to know if it's from my provider or if it's from my wireless router. And another thing when I try to connect to the router (192.168.0.1) with my PC or ipod or anything it just says page not found. My PC is connected via enthernet cable to my wireless router. The only way to make the internet work with the router is by connecting the internet cable to the LAN ports of the wireless router, if I connect it to the WAN port it doesn't connect.

    So basically:

    1.Only one MAC address allowed

2.I can't connect to my router

3.I AM PISSED OFF!How do I configure my wireless network?
Routers are not plug in and use them. It sounds like you have not configyred the router to access your internet connection. Open your routers user manual and follow the install instructions without skipping any steps.

Is it okay to share your IP address?

Because I just accidentally posted mine on a forum in an error report and I can't delete it ... also I'm on a mac and I can't figure out how to change my address. Ugh ...Is it okay to share your IP address?
As a general rule, the less information you give out, the better. But, as long as you have a router between your Mac and your cable/DSL connection, you should be in good shape. As you can tell from the link below, anyone running a website can get your IP address (whether you realize it or it).

If you have a Linksys router,

    - just go to http://192.168.1.1/ (your router IP address),

    - enter your password (user name is typically blank),

    - go to Status,

    - click on ';DHCP Release';, wait a few seconds,

    - and then click on ';DHCP Renew';

-%26gt; This will change your IP address, your router will get a new one from your ISP (internet service provider), so the IP address you posted by mistake will no longer be accurate

Good luck :)Is it okay to share your IP address?
Usually the service providers provide a dynamic IP which automatically changes on resetting the modem.

Getting Xbox live through a PC?

    Hi there,

At university and the only way you can connect to their ISP is by paying them and giving your MAC address so they can allow your PC to get an IP address.

I have two ethernet adapters in my pc in which the one with the activated MAC address is connected to the university network and the other is connected to the Xbox 360.

I have set my network to allow incoming connections and disabled the firewall etc etc. but I am still not able to connect to Xbox live through my pc. The only way I have been succesfull is by changing the MAC address on the Xbox and connecting that directly into the network, but this means I have not internet for my PC. So Is there a way I can get the internet to my Xbox 360 through my PC and if so can I get a walkthrough on how to do it.

    Thanks.

Also I am using a VGA connection for my Xbox 360 and PC graphics card but my LCD only has one socket, is there like a VGA switch you can get which saves me having to disconnect and keep switching plugs?Getting Xbox live through a PC?

With the mouse or track-pad, control-click in the area where the address bar should be (just below the coloured close/minimise/expand button, just above the toolbar bookmarks) and select ';Customize Toolbar ...'; from the pop-up menu. This will let you add your address bar back in to the toolbar.

  • How can I keep the forwarded ports though my router going to the same computer?

I have a home network. The router has port forwarding, which you set by setting which IP address the ports are forwarded to. But as the computers come and go and are restarted, the router keeps assigning them different addresses, leading to the ports forwarding to different machines all the time, which I'm constantly manually correcting. I've tried setting up the computers with manual IP settings, or using DHCP with a manual IP address, but neither one will work- they only work when configured to use DHCP, and then the addresses keep changing. An old router I had let you reserve an IP address and always assign it to the same MAC address, so the same machine always had a static local IP, but my Linksys Wireless router doesn't appear to offer that. Any idea? How can I keep the forwarded ports though my router going to the same computer?
Depending on what model Linksys router you have, you can flash it to use a third-party firmware that opens up more options including assigning a static IP to a MAC address (so your computer will always have the same IP).

I don't believe there's a way you can do this with the default Linksys firmware. Again what you want is assigning an IP to a MAC Address which is in the DHCP server settings. How can I keep the forwarded ports though my router going to the same computer?
yes the best Idea is to go to each of the computers and setup a static IP address like this

    start ... run

    type in : cmd

at the promter type : ipconfig /all

write down all the information that is given in that window

    now

start ... settings ... control panel

right-click on network connections and select open

right-click on local area connection and select properties

    In General Tab

scroll down until you see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select it

    click on Properties button below

a window pops out , In General Tab select use the following IP address

you must type an IP address

( I have a LinkSys also and given the gateway, or the router internal address is 192.168.1.1 I have put my IP as being 192.168.1.130)

Now from the paper you wrote down the data

type in the subnet mask ( in my case was 255.255.255.0)

type in the default gateway (in my case was 192.168.1.1 )

For the DNS server addresses select advanced

    in DNS tab

DNS server addresses in order of use ..click add and add the result that you wrote down on the paper previously

click ok ok and then restart the computer

    everything above works with DHCP

note . you have to do with the other computers the same thing otherwise you might have conflicts in establishing the IP

if you have problems let me know, email me

    good luck

    try this:

    http://www.dyndns.com/
There are many dynamic DNS services that will accomplish this. First you register with the dynamic DNS service and get a DNS address like mycomputer.dyndns.com. Next you install a bit of software on your Mac that periodically sends your current IP address to the dynamic DNS service. Whenever you want to access your computer you enter mycomputer.dyndns.com instead of the IP address. The service translates or resolves the plain-text address to your current IP address. Just Google ';free dynamic DNS service'; and several should come up. Hope that helps!

What actually is a mac address? If it is specific to a machine, how can it be changed?

A MAC address is a 10 character code for a network device (router, or NIC). The IP address / MAC address combination guarantees every user in the world a unique address that can be dynamically assigned. Most network cards have the MAC address hard coded into the actual card. Most routers have a MAC address hard coded too, but offer the feature to clone an existing address and use that. What actually is a mac address? If it is specific to a machine, how can it be changed?
it is not specific. it is the hardware address to your network interface.

    it can be changed:

buy a new nic cardWhat actually is a mac address? If it is specific to a machine, how can it be changed?
MAC address is hardcoded into the NIC.
A MAC Address is the physical address of the hardware. And no, you do NOT have ot buy a brand new NIC, you can change it. This link outlines the steps for a W2K and XP OS. Hope that helps. :)

    http://www.nthelp.com/NT6/change_mac_w2k.htm
A MAC address is not specific to a machine, but any network connection. So every network card, router port, cable and DSL modem has a MAC address.

You can't change the real MAC address, but most Routers have a feature to MASK their own MAC Address and let you CLONE your PC's MAC address, or even let you type in a phony MAC address. You see, that way you can show your internet provider the same MAC address, no matter what is connected to your router.

    Good luck and Happy Computing!

Netgear router, question about MAC addresses?

    Router: Netgear

    Model: WNR2000

Well I recently knew how to change my IP address (to get unbanned from sites/games) and it was going to my router website (192.168.1.1) and i've been trying to set a couple IP's but it seems that you have to put in a specific code? Mac addresses format code is XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX, with letters and numbers. I'm really new to this so is there a list of valid codes I can use to change my IP? I've just been guessing some numbers/letters and when I tested them my IP said 0.0.0.0.0, but some actually work. Answers will be much appreciated..Netgear router, question about MAC addresses?
Typically, you would get a new IP address every time you logged on to the Internet. So, if you restart your router, or reconnect, then it would log on and get a new IP address. That is, unless you have a static IP address, in which case you would have to talk with your service provider.

MAC addresses should not be transmitted over WAN networks (internet). Only your ISP should see the MAC. If you want to change the MAC, I would suggest changing just one character (perhaps the last character) up or down by 1. These are meant to be unique though, and generally not changed.

MAC addresses are in HEX format. 0123456789abcdef. Any combination should work, unless there are some ';reserved ones'; which is why I suggested changing just 1 character.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HexadecimalNetgear router, question about MAC addresses?
There is difference between your router IP address (192.168.x.x), your WAN IP and your MAC address.

You can find them all. For router IP address check:

    http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/router-

    http://www.find-ip-address.org/router-ip

    For MAC address:

    http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/find-ma

    http://www.find-ip-address.org/mac-addre

    For WAN (external IP address):

    http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/ip-addr

    http://www.find-ip-address.org/ip-addres

To change your IP address you need to change your WAN IP address and not MAC address or Router IP address.

Most probably using proxy server will hide IP address (change IP)

If you would like to hide IP address try with p[roxies http://www.proxyblind.org
The MAC address is not the IP address.

The LAN IP address assigned to your pc has absolutely NO bearing on the public IP address that the game site saw.

Resetting the LAN IP address will not help you.

The public IP address you have is most likely a dynamic public IP address assigned by your Internet Service Provider and it is very likely the game site has more ways to identify you than just the dyanmic public lP address.

Having said all the above, all your efforts are of no value in getting you to your goal. I suggest you consider good behaviour in the future.
Firstly, a bit about IP address'...

An IP address is a unique number that identifies each computer on the network or assigned by your ISP.

    Example 216.27.61.137

    Computer reads it like:

The number that you see is is decimal form (form we can read)

The computer reads this number in binary (machine code)

    So 11011000.00011011.00111101.10001001

There is two types of IP's, one assigned by the ISP and one assigned by the router.

The ISP, or internet service provider, lends out the IP per customer.

So your house has an IP, the library has an IP and a school has its own unique IP.

Then there is an IP that is leased out to you by a router. It is used to define all the nodes (peripherals) on the router.

So your ISP IP might be 70.456.....

But you router IP might be 192.168...

Now, whoever is banning you is doing so via your external IP (provided by your ISP). So whenever that changes (assuming that you did not order for a static IP address) the company should not know who you are. Unless you have the same SN.

I have heard that they ban by the MAC add bound to your ethernet card, but I dont think they do. If you wish you can get a program to change that too.

I also heard they can ban you by the serial numbers that you used to register the games. This is one why you need a legit copy to play a game (either that or play on a private server)

Using own router with Road Runner Internet.?

I am current using the NetGear Router provided by Time Warner Road Runner. I have been paying $8 a month for home networking for almost 10 years.

I have some questions on how to buy and use my own router and save the $8 a month.

1.) Can I buy the same exact router that I have now and just copy the setting over to the new one or will I have to change the mac address or other settings?

2.) Can I use any Wireless G Router?

3.) I am currently using the NetGear WGR14 V6 from Road Runner. We get dropped connections all the time when using Wireless. It's so bad we had to buy a 100 ft eithernet cable for the laptop.

The router is currently 54mbs. Is there any other routers that you could recommend that would be better that this one?Using own router with Road Runner Internet.?
    you can buy any router

I'm on tw cable with their modem and my router

buy a wireless n router, faster, 100mbs, I have linxys, with a wide range (for a home) $80.Using own router with Road Runner Internet.?
    To answer all your questions...

Yes, you can use your own router with Road Runner.

You can use any Wireless G router. The WGR614 you have now is very common and you could purchase one, but since you say you have problems with dropped connections and such, I wouldn't recommend buying the same router you have now. You should look into a Wireless N router, since that's pretty much the standard now. Wireless N is backwards compatible with Wireless G.

As far as the settings, there shouldn't be any special settings that you need to set up. The most complex thing you may need to configure is the security settings for your wireless signal, but the software that comes with the new router will walk you through it step by step.

One thing to note. When you replace the router with a new one, make sure you disconnect the power from your cable modem for a few seconds so it will reboot. Most cable modems will only allow one device to be connected to them, so you have to reset them if you swap that one device.

On a side note, wireless is not a perfect technology, so even if you get a new router, you may still have dropped connections. Wireless will never be as good as a hardwired connection, just due to the nature of wireless technology - it will never be able to compete with a wire in terms of reliability.
Yes you can have your own. I live in Los Angeles and have time warner, they asked for $4 a month to rent there router. I bought my own but could not find the cable router that they have. I had to buy a modem and router, that cost me $100. The modem was $50 the router $30 something plus shipping. I whent with netgear router, and zoom modem.

Can i use two different cable modems on the same cable broadband connection?

hi, i have two houses next to each other, one has virgin broadband, i have split the signal so i can get broadband now in the second house also but have to use same modem, i bought a second one but does not work, was told i have to change the mac address of modem to get it to work, i have done this but no luck, i do not want to use a router, can anyone tell me how i can get second modem which is exaclty the same type of modem as the first, to work on the broadband line. Can i use two different cable modems on the same cable broadband connection?
That's absolute cobblers told to you by some Virgin office prat who doesn't know what he's talking about. Telewest was taken over by Virgin.

Tell them to send, no demand, that they send out an installation Supervisor to your house and tell it you to your face. Also there is no reason why a spur cannot be taken off of your wall junction and fed into next door. It will have it's own phone number, TV services and phone and be billed to that address.

I had the same thing when I moved a couple of years back. Where I now live the complex has cable running right around it and a lot of people connected. They said we can't connect your flat because of it's location. So after a row on the phone they said well we can connect flats 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 but not yours!

So I said well that's very funny because I live on the ground floor and 4, 5 and 6 are on the first floor, in fact flat 6 is above mine and your saying that you can connect a flat above me but you can't mine on the ground floor! So you send a supervisor and get him to tell me to my face. The guy turned up 2 days later took one look at it and said that they were all idiots at the office and hadn't got a clue and he was straight onto his mobile.

2 days later the cable layers put in cable from the road cabinet to my flat and the next day the installation engineer turned up to put my services on. He was gone in less than an hour.

What it is they rely on these address finders and if it says no these office wallies wont be moved! So as I said, demand that they send out a installation Supervisor and get him to have a look and make a decision on the ground. Can i use two different cable modems on the same cable broadband connection?
if you meen using both modems at the same time off the same line you cant you will need a router/switch
You can't. You need a single modem per line, and technically you only have one line. You splitting the line is not how Virgin wanted you to accept their cable. Each modem has specific configuration for its counterpart Virgin equipment at the other end of the line.

Your best solution is to use a router, or get a second line into the second house from Virgin. You do not say why you do not wish to use a router, but it seems a wireless router would be the logical solution.

Why did you split the signal before asking this question? :)

    *Edit*

Bam - you have two options here:

    1) Go with by sewrobb's suggestion, and talk to the right people at Virgin. Of course they can in theory do *anything* but they may be making a decision not to assist.

    2) You can get this working yourself, if you are willing to have a device always up and running in the house that has the main line. You'll need a device to terminate the cable, and provide an ethernet port (a regular cable modem, basically). Run Ethernet cabling from the first house to the second, and in the second house connect it to a wireless router.

You do not say why you wish not to leave a device on in the first house, but you are going to have to be somewhat flexible to achieve your goal. The alternative is to request that Virgin disconnects your first house, reconnects into your second house, and do the reverse of what you are trying to achieve. Probably at your expense though.
No. One will cut the other off, or more likely neither will work. you need a router to share a connection - ONE router connected to your modem. You will need to wire it through to the other house as it is very unlikely you would get a wireless signal that far. Your ISP can cut you off for what you are trying to do.
While everyone is correct here, the fact that you don't want to use a router adds to this issue. Sure they can send the signal to two house you need to have to modems. This also means that on your isp's end you need two accounts. Modems / connection works on provisioning that modem via it's mac address and you can only have one mac address per account. This is where your router comes in since you can them use it to spread the signal around.

However what Virgin is saying makes no sense, you mean to tell me they won't install another line?

You could though (if you got a router) is use it, run a cat5 connection to the second house, connect it to a signal booster and be set.

Then, i got a PS3 and went into my router settings to change a MAC address to enable PS3 wireless access as well. Then poof, my wireless router now pops up with 'limited or no connectivity'. When i plug in the ethernet cable from my modem directly to my PC i have internet connectivity just fine (which is why i'm able to post a question here) but as soon as i connect up the router, i lose my connection. Can anybody help? i guess a solution would be to access the router settings again, but without being connected to the internet, i can't seem to type in my IP in an IE window in order to get to the online admin page of the router. how else can i change router settings? i have done the usual power down power up restart etc things, but to no avail. please help!Belkin N1 wireless 'limited or no connectivity' issue?
Did you filter the wrong MAC address? I noticed you said

    ';Then, i got a PS3 and went into my router settings to change a MAC address to enable PS3 wireless access as well. Then poof, my wireless router now pops up with 'limited or no connectivity'.';

I would tell you to RESET the router to its default config, (there is a small reset button on it somewhere), then reset up the router.

Been there done that a few times. All it takes is changing the wrong MAC. Like the MAC of the router!

If you check the manufacturers website, there will be details on how to reset your router to the manufacturers default settings.

How to check if your MAC is being remote controlled or being viewed by someone?

Also, whats the easiest way to change your ip address yourself, i use rogers for internet. I think i have static ip.How to check if your MAC is being remote controlled or being viewed by someone?
Since there are no MacOs X viruses in the last 3 years, that can't be a problem. If you haven't downloaded one of the 7 Mac trojans (fake malware remover, fake anti-virus, fake poker game, fake HD viewer, and fake codec to view porn)(the other two are hidden in torrents of iWorks 09 and Photoshop CS4) and installed one of them with your admin password, then those aren't a problem. If in your system preferences, the sharing control panel, the sharing is turned off and the firewall is enabled, then you have nothing to worry about. The only way to have someone ';see'; what you are doing would be if you have a stolen Mac and the software to return it is active or if someone came to your house and installed software on your Mac. Odds are pretty good you would know if either of those was happening. How to check if your MAC is being remote controlled or being viewed by someone?

How can i hook my xbox 360 up to the internet when my college doesnt want me to?

Well, at the beginning of every year, to keep kids from doing stuff like this, they make you give your pc's MAC address to them, and they will allow that PC on the internet. I have seen people who have gotten around this, so i tried to get on my xbox and change it's MAC address to the same as my PC. When i test my connection, even though it has the same MAC address, it stops at ';Network Adapter';... which is the first one... and says ';Disconnected';, so even though i changed my mac address, its still not allowing it. But i know it can be done because ive seen other people with it on live... so any ideas of how?How can i hook my xbox 360 up to the internet when my college doesnt want me to?
Why don't you ask those other people how they do it.How can i hook my xbox 360 up to the internet when my college doesnt want me to?
....uh.....well first you do have a network adaptor pluged in right? also....maybe you should give them your xbox's MAC address and your pc's and say you have 2...
Get the MAC address of your Xbox live and give it to your school. Say it's like a new laptop you got. Ask them to allow you on the internet. If they say yes, you're all set. If they say no and they need proof, change the MAC address on a computer to match your Xbox MAC address. Once they let you on, you're all set.

hello all please help me with a disaster happened to me when sombody knows my MAC address of my USB wireless lan and i thought that he is using my broadband account where he can connect to the internet through it ,of course i have a username and password that he already knew but i will change it ,but i need help and advice whether changing my username and password can solve the problem or i need to change my MAC address and how is that.any more details i would be thankful to all of you .SOS of My privicy?
Changing you username and password (to a good password!) should keep everyone out of your account. A MAC address can be ';spoofed'; just like IP's and most wireless providers know that which is why they also supply a username/password for connections.

A good password is generally NOT something anyone can guess or a dictionary word. I use a combination of things. In fact if you take a sentance and use letters from it you can remember the password as well as have a good password.

    Downloading Anonymously ?

I have a few questions that I just need some simple yes's or no's.

Lets say somebody wants to download files and such that may be questionable or should I say';not bought';, but want to do it without identifying their selves or being tracked.

I am not talking about covering an ip address by using software designed for p2p downloading through utorrent or bitlord, and I am not talking about using or going through a proxy server to surf anonymously.

    HEre are my questions

Can a person be identified by their DHCP Server Address?

Can a person be identified by their DNS Server addresses?

Can a person be identified by their MAC address?

Can a person be identified by their Default Gateway?

I have already know how to change a MAC address %26amp; already know you can manually change an ip address by

ipconfig /release then unplugging router and pluggin it back in and doing ipconfig /renew in cmd.

I just notice a couple of things that stay the same no matter what someone does and thats the DHCP SERVER ADDRESS %26amp; the DNS SERVER ADDRESSES. And yes I know you can disable the use of DHCP, but i have been running into problems figuring out the TCP settings.

So again basically, I am asking if you could be found out by your DHCP and or your DNS utmost, if you were to make sure to change your IP %26amp; MAC addresses every time you wanted to go online and download something questionable or not and then change them

(the MAC %26amp; IP) again before you went and did something like oh I don't know....log into a personal email, which if you did would basically connect yourself to the IP %26amp; MAC you were doing the questionable downloads on which would be a big bad thing, I would think.

Cause as I see it, if everytime you go online with a dif MAC and dif IP address and make sure to never go to any ACTUAL PERSONAL ACCOUNTS on the same mac and IP address you did something questionable with, that would possibly identify you, you would be pretty much in the clear.

And well of course this is the extent of my knowledge or guess on the subject as I am here asking you all now.

This is of course just for my knowledge. Not that I would ever actually do something like this. I a, just a curious cat.Downloading Anonymously ?
Yes you can be tracked down.

I assume you are using an Internet Service Provider from home.

The ISP records your presence (address) when you connect, and the modem has an identification code of its own. The web site you visit can record the time of the visit and the IP address. If the web site should find undesirable or possibly illegal activity coming from that IP address, they can get a court order to require the ISP to provide them with the identity of the account using that IP address at that particular time.

For example, if you purchase online, the business will record the time and the IP address to give them data for fraud investiagations.

This can be a huge problem if you have a wireless network. If you do not have encryption enabled, someone outside your home could hack into your network and use your internet connection to do very bad things - and guess who gets blamed for it? The account holder. And how would you prove you did not do it?Downloading Anonymously ?
it still goes through your internet provider which by law has to turn you in
Just tell your parents ';hey parents I love to download porn, get over it';.
I will try to answer your questions as simply as possible.

Can a person be identified by their DHCP Server Address?

This doesn't necessarily make sense. The DHCP server address, as you probably know, is the address that you choose of a device on your network that your computer will talk to in order to be automatically assigned configuration settings like IP address. This is always a LOCAL address on your immediate network, and the question of identifiability does not make sense. Anyone who is using a given DHCP server will have that server's IP address configured in that way.

Usually changing this value does not make sense. You will no longer be able to automatically get assigned network configuration data. For most normal users, their DHCP server is the router that they are connected to.

Can a person be identified by their DNS Server addresses?

This is another question that does not particularly make sense. A DNS server is just a server that you must talk to in order to resolve hostnames, e.g. convert something like yahoo.com to something like 68.180.206.184 so that your computer can contact the Yahoo! server.

Your DNS server, like your DHCP server, is something that probably would not make sense for you to change.

Can a person be identified by their MAC address?

Absolutely yes. A given MAC address, while not guaranteed to be UNIQUE worldwide, does correspond to a specific device. For example, if your laptop has wireless capability and wired networking capability, then it has at least two network adapters. Each of these was built with a MAC address. That MAC address identifies the manufacturer of the adapter, among other things, and is not meant to be changed.

However, no one sees the MAC address except devices SPECIFICALLY talking to that hardware. In other words, if you are plugged into a router, then only that router and MAYBE other machines also plugged into that router care about your network adapter's MAC address. There is no concept of any other machine on the Internet being able to see or care about the MAC address(es) of your hardware.

Like I said, the MAC address is programmed into your device and is NOT supposed to be changed. I suggest not worrying about things like MAC addresses ever again unless you have an address collision (very rare) or take a networking class.

Can a person be identified by their Default Gateway?

See my answer to DHCP Server. For most people, the gateway is actually the same as the DHCP server (usually a router). Don't worry about this either.

In general, all four of these things are configuration data that make up how your machine talks to your router and other machines, and changing them will basically just either break your ability to access the Internet or have no effect at all.

There is no anonymity to be gained by changing any of these fundamental connection settings.

Keep in mind also that there isn't really much anonymity gained from changing your public Internet-side IP address either, since ISPs keep logs of what accounts/locations connect through which IPs at any given time.

How to Get around my apartments mac filter on my xbox?

My apartment has WIFI through out the building. At first it was free and had no security and then they started charging. When they did this they asked for the mac address for any computer that would be using the service. I gave them my PCs mac address along with my XBOX 360s. Shortly after I was unable to connect to the network on my XBOX but fine on my PC. When i asked them about it they said they are not allowing online gaming. I then went and changed my XBOXs Mac address to the same one as my computer and so far its been working fine. My question is will they be able to figure this out and is there anything else i can do to prevent that? I am pretty sure when I gave them my MAC address I did mention that one was for my xbox but I am not 100%. I really do not know a lot when it comes to computers/networking so an answer in lame mans terms would really help me out.How to Get around my apartments mac filter on my xbox?
    Lame mans terms? lol.

    You mean layman's terms.

The online gaming restriction is interesting. Online gaming doesn't use that much bandwidth. I guess if you're using a shared community wifi they don't want to hear people complain about ping since everyone will likely be torrenting and eating up all available bandwidth anyway.

The best workaround you could do is get a router that is dd-wrt compatible ( http://www.dd-wrt.com ).

You can put this router into ';Client'; mode and connect it to their wireless with the MAC that you have given them. Then, from one IP you can have a complete computer network behind it, which will simultaneously service your PC and Xbox at the same time. How to Get around my apartments mac filter on my xbox?
They can tell if they know what they are doing.

What does changing your IP do to your ISP?

I can change my IP though the router changing the MAC address, but how does this effect my ISP? is there any way to get in trouble by doing this? If so how would you get in trouble? What does changing your IP do to your ISP?
If you are talking about the external address that comes from your ISP, you would probably lose your connection. This address is provided by your ISP so that you can exist on the internet.

What would happen if you changed the address on your house to whatever you wanted it to be? Would people be able to find your house?... I don't mean people who already know where you live!

As for the MAC address, you cannot change that. Yes, there are ways to clone a MAC address, but that would normally be done with malicious intent. What does changing your IP do to your ISP?
You can't change your MAC address. If you change your IP, your ISP won't care. It's YOUR IP, not theirs.
It doesn't effect the ISP, it effects you. Your ISP provides you with your IP. Should you decide to change the assigned IP you will no longer have internet. However, if your intent is malicious, the NOC will catch you. I'm not giving security details away on social site.
Your ISP has a pool of external IP's.

Once you change MAC (if you have cable modem this shouldn't work from router), your ISP will release the assignment of your current IP and give you one from the pool.

Nothing really could come of this, but if you do it a few times a day you might get a phone call.

How do I change' ALL' the network setting on a MAC?

How do I get past a second life computer ban?

Alright, I was banned for doing a stupid thing on second life, griefing, anyways, it's been a year since I was banned, and I don't plan on making the same mistake again. Calling them, or emailing them, will NOT work. Alright now then, here's my question, how do I get un banned from my comp? What did they ban me from, and what can I do about it? I don't think they banned the last two digits of my IP because I changed it, and it still didn't work. BUT when I go downstairs, and play the comp with last two different digits, it works. So it can't be the IP i'm thinking, right? Because if it was, I would beable to access it from my comp when I change the mac address to change the last two digits of the IP. So what else can they ban on my comp? My hardrive? Please let me know, so I can figure out what to change, or what I need to do, thanks! How do I get past a second life computer ban?
They banned part 2 and 3 of your ip address. You said that if you go downstairs and use the computer with the last 2 digits work? Yes its an ip ban read below

It is a lifetime IP address ban. If you want a new ip and have a linksys router please follow the instructions provided below to change all of your ip address:

*This is for most linksys routers*

In your browser type in 192.168.1.1(if not reset your router) and you will get a username and password prompt. For the username (for most linksys routers) is admin and the password is admin (if not reset your router and if that doesnt work consult your manual). Ok now your in. Please click on MAC Address Clone in the setup tab. Alright now click enable if its not already enabled. Now you can change all the numbers for your mac address! Change all the numbers in the mac address (it may give you errors like out of range, to fix this only use numbers 1-9 and letters a-f) to different things! But before you click save settings i most warn you. You will still have access to your router but your internet will be disabled until you successfully complete the next step! now click Save Settings and wait, It may take awhile. After it says its completed or if the page refreshed click the Status tab. Your IP and mac and everything will be 0.0.0.0 and your internet will be disabled. Next go to your router and unplug it and unplug the modem too! When they are both off wait 1 minute and plug them back in. Wait for them to both get initialized and ready and go back to your computer. Your computer should now be internet connection enabled again with an entirely new ip address and you can now log in to second life (if it was an ip ban)!

*Steps to take if you don't have a router and you are connected directly to the modem*

First go to run located in the start menu. Type in run ';cmd'; without the quotes. With the new window open type in ';ipconfig /release'; without the quotes! this will disable your internet. Now leave the command prompt alone for now. Now unplug your modem and wait 2 minutes this time. Plug your modem back in after 2 minutes and wait for it to initialize. Now go back to your computer and type in command prompt ';ipconfig /renew'; without the quotes and wait. After a bit you should get your stats for your ip and everything in command prompt and it should be entirely new.

Please note that if you dont have a linksys router plug your laptop (or whatever) directly into the modem and do the steps for the modem!

you wont really spoof, you want to clone. more like spoofing but this is for long. get a pc's mac address (probably yours or a friends) then use mac address cloning in your router. place there the mac address that you took then save it.

anyway, mac cloning is not the answer i see. they cant see your mac (coz its physical address and can only be seen if you are on the same network), what they can see is your public IP, better release and renew from your ISP to get a new one, hopefully.

what forum did you get banned from? the best thing to do would probably be to forget about and find a new forum.
Once banned, forever banned - PERIOD! You cannot get back on. They have your physical ip address, ';as well as the identity of your computer';, so will know that it is you. You will never be able to create a new account whatever you try with your pc. That ban will block any type of account creation on that forum for that pc and block you right out. This is what 'ban' means i'm afraid, honey. Move on and forget it!

  • How do you to change your IP address to match your other computer's IP address?

So I have a PC running XP and a MAC running Mac OS X. I want them to have the same IP address. The internet is through a huge network (College Dormitory). I'm not sure if it is through a router or not. My question is can I make both computers have the same IP address? I won't be using both them at the same time on the same network. Also, which platform (Mac or PC) would be easier to change?

Thanks! How do you to change your IP address to match your other computer's IP address?
why? that makes no sense you have to have different ips in order to direct each component. What kind of crazy thing are you trying to do. that's how the server recognizes each component on the network. How do you to change your IP address to match your other computer's IP address?
You can have the same IP address on internal network, but its not usually a good idea because the computers will clash when communicating over network resources.

I think you go to network connections and right click Local or Wireless Area Connection and select properties, then look for TCP/P settings and then instead of obtaining IP address auto, you choose the static IP address.

I repeat It is not a good idea to two devices having the same IP address.
You can't have two devices have the same IP address, if you do, it will cause a conflict. What you can do is get a router with NAT translation ability, Linksys and Netgear make them and any computer store sells them. What you can do is connect the uplink port to the main network, it will get the IP of the main network, then connect your nodes, the two computers. The router also has a DHCP server which will make dummy IPs so the two computers can have a unique address and create an internal network which gets out through the router. If done right, you share one connection with a single IP through NAT, which in simple terms, translates an internal network to an external network.
The only reason that I can think of for giving two machines the same IP is to fool a network control system of some kind... so don't.

How do i download more MBs on a wireless connection on windows vista?

my uni provides a wireless connection but with a very limited amount of MBs to download :'( what can i do to increase them? should i change my ip address or mac address or what?and how? Thanx anyways:)How do i download more MBs on a wireless connection on windows vista?
You don't. The IP is assigned to you from their servers. Sure the MAC is used, but guess what, they can tell if it is the same machine or not, even if it has a different MAC.

Either get a wireless broadband card or use public hot-spots.How do i download more MBs on a wireless connection on windows vista?
You won't be able to increase them.

Your download cap is set by your provider... and that limitation is enforced at their central station by monitoring all the traffic coming from your specific hardware. None of the hardware that is enforcing the limitation is accessible or modifiable by you.

Your IP address is dynamic... changing it won't make one bit of difference as it is designed to be flexible.

Your MAC address is unique and is hard coded onto your network card and cannot be changed. There are software packages out there that allow you to mask your MAC address... but these are not easy to set up and won't solve your problem.

Your provider is actually monitoring bandwidth on THEIR equipment with their own MAC addresses. Nothing you do on your end will be able to change the information they are monitoring on their end.

So, unfortunately, the only way around this limitation is to change providers... or find out if your current provider has an upgrade plan where you pay a bit more but receive a higher download capacity in return.

    Good luck!
maybe, just maybe you shouldent be such a bottom-feeding troll and i would help, although there is nothing you can do. its called a bandwidth
