Is it possible to change your MAC ID?

Every computer has a Mac Address/ID i was wondering if it's possible to change it and how do you do it? (curiosity struck me hard at work)Is it possible to change your MAC ID?
Depends on the device. Some network cards allow it, as do some routers. Is it possible to change your MAC ID?

just a word of warning.. be careful your router isnt MAC locked or your ISP keeps track of a single MAC ID.. lol

takes a lot of convincing ISPs to make sure it is your computer still

Yes and no...you can't ';change'; it but many adapters have a choice in ';advanced'; on the driver configuration that lets you specify a MAC to override the preprogrammed one...if not there may be free utilities but I've never used them.

Why would you want to do that?

Besides trying to hack other networks, a legal and lagit use is when your ISP uses the MAC to identify your computer. If you get a new computer (or install a router) often you need to change or ';clone'; the MAC so the ISP doesn't know you swapped devices - just to get around having to call the ISP and have them enter the new device or charge extra for having a router.
There is no ';physical'; possible way to change your NIC MAC address. But there is a way to simulate a new one. A little program called SMAC. I do think it's freeware. Give that a shot! MAC addresses are HARD WIRED to the device, so the only way to eliminate that MAC address is to destroy the item.

Hope this helps. By the way, what the hell does a ccna tutorial have to do with MAC address?? I have the CCNA! LOL
No, it is not possible to do this. It is hard wired right into the hardware. It is like a serial number. It is completely unchangeable and is unique to your device.
its not possible to change, however it is possible to spoof using a program called wireshark
No, it's hard-coded into the device.
